Thailand, a Buddhism country with over 40,000 temples and close to 290,000 monks and novice.  All of these 40,000 temples spread around whole Thailand in every province and village.  Monks normally started their monkhood life when they are kids.  They first start primary study in temple and follow senior monks to learn buddhism.  After period of time and when they growth, they might further extend their knowledege by looking for lessons from other senior monks in other temples as well as they practice meditation in forest.  In the old buddhism world, there are a lot of buddhist bible and spell which can generate power of protection or strengthen luck and wealth.  All those power from bible and spell could be transferred from monks whom carry high attainment to others.  In the past, monks always made statues and put those buddhist bible and spell power into the statue.  At that time, there were a lot of war.  Many soldiers would like to get those monks blessing for protection and win the war, however those chanted statue is not good for carrying then monks made small piece of amulet and put transfer the powerful spell into amulets for soldiers to carry for protection.  This is the history of amulet. 

One of the liability of temple is to help the local social society on education, medication.  Although temples are under management of Kingdom of Thailand, they receive minimal monetary support from government.  For those activities of building up school, hospital and renovation of temple, abbott and monks have to find donation by themselves.  Long time ago, monks received donations from disciples for all kind of charity activities, they handmade amulets and all kinds of religious articles to return to those donators for appreciation of their donation.  These amulets and religious articles are made and chanted by the monks which carry power for protection and strengthen wealth of wearer.  A lot of disciples received these amulets and religious articles from monks, they found there are big changes of their life on health, wealth and everything then more and more people looking or these amulets and religious articles.  Gradually, when monks need money to perform charity functions or renovate temples, they made amulets and religious articles for disciples to rent in order they could donate money for the functions as well as giving luck, wealth and health to those disciples.

Most of the amulets are mainly for protection and strengthen luck.  Some monks get use of the original bible and spell then develope some other spells for specific functions i.e. strengthen luck of business, work, love, inter-personal relations...etc.  They also got use of a lot of old buddhist character i.e. Haruman (god of monkey), Sangkachai (fatty happy buddha), Kuanpeng (a famous military in old Thai), Singh (lion)...etc. to make diferent kind of amulets and religious articles for distinguish the functions of the amulet and religious article.

One thing is very important, spell could only strengthen luck when you are in good and  minimize harmfulness when you are in bad.  Spell could not change everything.  In Buddhism, concept of "Fruit and Result" as well as "Reborn" are very important.  Both are the roots of our life.  Amulets and Religious Articles definitely powerful  for assist us to maximize our power during our pros and minimize harmfulness when our cons but definitely not a tool for making everything change.
